As a part of this year’s Hoschton Fall Festival, we are attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the most scarecrows in one area. We want to have 4,000+ scarecrows within the Hoschton mailing area. Show your town spirit by designing a Scarecrow today.
Reasons for Attempting this GOAL:
- to gain a huge amount of positive publicity & wonderful decorations for the Hoschton Fall Festival.
- to build excitement among citizens with a community-wide project and to build pride in Hoschton.
- to have an indirect economic impact on local businesses.
- to help the schools teach using scarecrows as examples.
- to put Hoschton “on the map.”
- to guard the festival from the crows who might gather and cause trouble for the event, and to raise awareness of the farming history of our area.
The Hoschton Fall Festival Committee and the Hoschton Women’s Civic Club will host workshops on making scarecrows at several locations over the next month. The workshops are to help you learn how to make scarecrows and how easy it is. The idea is so popular that we have added four more workshops to the schedule.
Schedule of Scarecrow Workshops:
Braselton Antique Mall - July 4 and 5 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Historic Hoschton Depot - July 21st at 6:30 PM
Towne Center Shopping Center - July 12 and August 9 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
The Towne Center workshops coincide with the American Street Rodders Cruise-In
If you have any of the following items, please bring them with you to the workshops: plastic grocery bags, old jewelry, old clothes, fabric, old shirts, old pants, old dresses, old pillows, safety pins, old throw pillows, old hats, twine, ribbon, and anything else you think would be useful in making a scarecrow.
We are not looking for detailed scarecrows, just numbers.
